A federal appeals court in Washington, D.C. ruled 2-1 on Sep 25, 2026 that the Pentagon could remove Anthropic's Claude from its systems and bar contractors from using it on military work. The Department of War made that call in March, after Anthropic refused to let Claude be used for weapons that pick and strike targets on their own or for mass surveillance of Americans. The court said the department reasonably feared Anthropic could stop Claude from doing military tasks it considers lawful. "It is the President and the Secretary of War who must determine how best to balance the competing risks," Judge Katsas wrote. Judge Henderson dissented.
What this means for you: The ruling covers Pentagon systems and military contract work, not the Claude app you use.
ChatGPT can now do tasks for you by voice
OpenAI said on Sep 23, 2026 that ChatGPT's Live voice mode can now use the apps you have connected to your account while you talk. It works on the web, iPhone, and Android. Free and Go users get this with the apps their plan supports. Voice also now works in ChatGPT's Work area, where you can ask it out loud to create documents, presentations, and spreadsheets. That needs both Voice and Work access.
What this means for you: You can talk to ChatGPT and have it use the apps you already connected, without typing.
Meta's new AI glasses start at $249
Meta announced on Sep 23, 2026 its first audio-only glasses, Ray-Ban Meta Audio, from $349. They are on pre-order now and ship Oct 13. A new Meta Adventurer pair starts at $249, its cheapest yet, and goes on sale Oct 23. Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 is on sale now from $449, and Meta says its Muse personal AI helper is coming to the glasses.
What this means for you: Smart glasses with a built-in AI helper now start at $249, less than most new phones.
