On Oct 20, 2026, Google said Gemini is now on Android Auto and cars with Google built-in. It is also rolling out Personal Intelligence, starting with Android Auto. This feature lets Gemini use your own Google apps to answer questions while you drive.

What Personal Intelligence can use

With your permission, it connects to Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Photos, Google Maps, YouTube and Search. Google gives examples like asking Gemini to find the car wash from a photo you took last week and navigate there.

Who can get it

Google says it is rolling out to eligible personal Google accounts for people 18 and older. Work, school and business Workspace accounts are left out. So are the European Economic Area, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Nigeria.

How to turn it on or off

Turn Gemini Personal Intelligence on or off in 3 steps
  1. Open the Gemini app on your phone. If you are eligible, a Personal Intelligence card appears. Tap Get started.

  2. Pick Connect all, Choose apps, or Don't connect.

  3. To turn it off or change apps later, tap Menu, then your profile picture or initial. Go to Personal Intelligence, then Connected Apps, and turn off each app you do not want Gemini to use. Google says you can do this anytime.

Your apps stay unconnected until you turn it on. If you already turned it on in the Gemini app, it comes with you into the car.

What if I leave it off

Google says everything in the car still works without it. You can navigate, play music, make calls and ask questions, but the answers will not be tailored to you.
