Welcome to everyone who joined us this week. On Sep 29, OpenAI launched Dots: always-on AI agents with their own cloud computer that can keep working in ChatGPT, Slack, or Teams while you sleep. OpenAI launches Dots, always-on agents inside ChatGPT
OpenAI launched Dots on Sep 29, 2026. Dots are always-on agents powered by GPT-6 Astra. Each Dot gets its own cloud computer and can connect to over 4,000 apps. You can reach yours in ChatGPT, Slack, or Teams. Rollout starts with Pro and Business Premium users in eligible markets. You name a primary Dot, set app permissions, and keep approval rules for sensitive steps. It can keep working in the background and ask you before it acts on things that need you.
What this means for you: If you pay for ChatGPT Pro or Business Premium in an eligible market, you can try an AI helper that keeps working when you step away.
Bottom line: Dots are OpenAI’s bet that your AI helper should keep working even when you walk away. Your car and its app may share data with Big Tech
Researchers with Northeastern University and Consumer Reports tested 21 late-model cars and 30 companion apps, TechCrunch reported Sep 29. Nineteen of the 21 vehicles sent data to at least one third party. Seven of the 30 apps shared sensitive details such as VIN, email, phone number, or precise location with tracking and advertising firms, including Google, Meta, and Microsoft. Pairing the companion app with the vehicle roughly doubled exposure to those companies.
What this means for you: Your car app may share more about you than you think. Check what you connect and what the privacy settings allow.
Google’s Gemini 4 Argon starts with trusted testers
Google announced Gemini 4 Argon on Sep 30, 2026. It is rolling out first to trusted cyber defenders through Google’s Fairwind Program. Broader access is planned later for paid API customers and Google AI Ultra subscribers. Argon expands output to up to 1 million tokens and Google calls it frontier-level for software engineering, enterprise knowledge work, and cybersecurity defense.
What this means for you: You cannot use Gemini 4 Argon in everyday chat yet. Watch for Ultra and API access when Google opens it wider.
